another potty story
gioel took luca to make a poop. he left luca in there alone and after a couple minutes luca called him back. when gioel got close to entering he said "wait a minute dad! pull your shirt over your nose. it really stinks in here!"

Asking "What does that spell?" when he sees a word
When I read to Luca I point out the words as I read them and now when he recites it back to me he is starting to point to the correct words as he "reads" sentence with correct rhythm (vs reciting phrase while pointing to just one of the words, or running finger across them too fast)

"Mom, when Megan was here I really missed you. I couldnt go to 'Dreamland' without you!"

Out of Bed!
Today was the first day that Luca got out of bed in the morning without calling me in to his room to get him.
potty training
"This pee is like white water!"
When Luca says "Mommy, I feel cold" he has to pee (and probably poop too). He tells me when he has to use the potty now - and even when he is wearing a diaper he prefers to use the potty for his pee. The poop we havent made much progress. He likes to use the diaper for that - i know, not my preference! - and I think he is even holding the poops in all day and waiting for that naptime or bedtime diaper. For the past year he has always made the poops right after breakfast, and again after lunch or dinner. Now its usually after nap, immediately when he wakes before getting out of bed or right before bed.

this morning when i was making luca's breakfast, he was sitting at the little table waiting patiently. he looked up at me and said,
"mom, you're really pretty"

Double Negatives
Today Luca thought it would be amusing to discreetly use double negatives whenever possible to get me flustered.
Examples:
"There aren'nt no boats outside"
"I don't want no salmon"
He knows he is saying something incorrect and secretly finds it funny, but keeps a straight face and waits to see if I notice.

Backyardigans
Favorite TV show: Backyardigans!!!
One episode is based on the science fiction "Journey to the Center of the Earth"
Luca loves to take my hippie Indian necklace that looks like a time machine capsule and fly it through the sky while singing "going to the center of the earth..."
He also noticed that Pablo doesn't have ears, none of the Backyardigans have teeth or hair.
Why is your face moving?
While Gioel is chewing a bite of food, Luca leans in to give a him a kiss on the cheek -

Playing with new box of 24 crayons today. Has lots of new secondary and tertiary colors he hasnt colored with before:
